Csx 7029?
Was poking around on various sites late this afternoon and came across an ad for a 1964 Shelby Cobra CSX 7029. It is an aluminum car with an asking price of $149k (good luck with that I suspect).
Ad is from a dealer called Nevada Classics. Also mentions that the car has participated in 7 historic car races. Is anybody familiar with this car and its history? Not sure how keen I am to even pursue one that has been raced...also, given that I live in California, have to be worried about how it is currently registered I guess (looks to have some kind of historic license plates). As always, appreciate your responses. Bob |

Have seen the car via the web, looks nice and I agree price will be hard to hit? Never know though.;) Isn't it great how a new CSX can get into Vintage/Historic catagory and others can't? Guess it is all part of the price of admission. The additional log book is a great feature..... |
I helped in some parts of the build of CSX 7029.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/15/DSCN1146.JPG The price likely reflects the dealer wanting to get his fair share of what the owner wants out of the car. AFAIK, the car still resides in the owner's garage here in Michigan. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/P1000146.JPG The owner was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash last year, and may be giving up racing. They are also quite busy doing a rack-n-pinion steering conversion on their other Cobra, CSX 2045. CSX 7029 is a fast, well-built car, with all premium components. No short cuts taken. It's most likely registered in MI as a 1964 Cobra (just like SAI's MSO said), but we all know it wasn't built in 1964. Not sure how that might work out in CA. regards, Jeff |
Forgive me as I dont mean to offend, but what was the owner thinking in picking that paint color?? That doesnt look anywhere close to a Shelby color.

I wouldnt mind the clor as much if it didnt have the yellow stripe. I loved that stripe on my black SPF but it looks odd with that paint color. Just my 2 cents:D

Thanks for the replies....

As I mentioned above, I like the color (the stripe not so much) and the engine has some nice collection of parts such as the R-302 block, solid roller cam, Jessel rockers, Aviaid pan, etc., but at that price level I think I would want a new or less-used CSX alloy 427 car.

You would think they might clean the car before taking pictures.
the fit and finish is kinda iffy. - |
