CSX8000 Production Numbers?

Just read an email release from Lance (at Shelby Distribution) that CSX8289 is done (as a roller), and in the pictures, it looks great!

At a recent local car show, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of CSX8007, which must be a very early 8000 series car.

So doing the math ... have there been 289 or so CSX8000 cars built?

It seems like you don't see or hear of CSX8000 cars very often, from what I have seen here on Club Cobra or on Cobra Country.

By contrast, I believe that ERA has built around 140 289 FIA cars to date and they come up for sale from time to time ... but maybe I am just more aware of ERA cars ? ;)

Anyone have a guess as to production numbers to date for CSX8000 cars?

Is it possible they 'skipped' a few numbers to build someone #289 ??

Not trying to rile anyone up ... just curious more than anything else.

Thanks.

You might get a quicker, less speculative answer by asking on the Team Shelby forum or emailing Gary Patterson but here's my guess:

It is an out of order number. It's not unprecedented by SA - some of the new GT350 numbers were "allocated", e.g., GT350 #350.

Was it aluminum or fiberglass?

It's a fiberglass car, white with red seats, wires and white walls, looks great!

Sent an email to Gary, good idea. Thanks.

Sent an email to Gary and already got a very nice reply :)

In short, serial numbers are typically issued in sequence but exceptions are made on occasion. He did not have any exact production numbers handy, but said there have been less than 289 CSX8000 cars built to date.
