1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Competition offered for auction #1796257 | Hemmings Motor News

Love the gold leaf.

jhv48 12-11-2015 05:23 PM

Any guesses on price?

1795 12-11-2015 05:24 PM

Beautiful car, now if only I could win the lottery before the auction takes place...

RM Sotheby's is listing an estimate of $2,500,000 - $3,300,000.

The people that put out the offering propaganda need a Cobra wise proof reader. The "suitcase bump" mentioned was on the FIA 289s. not the 427 Comp cars.

mickmate 12-12-2015 03:35 PM

Suitcase bump is in the rear bulkhead on the 427's. Great looking car with some super history.

ScratchBuilder 12-12-2015 06:01 PM

Former neighbor and even have pictures of the front clip in my yard, one of the nicest 427s I've seen and a comp car to boot!

With the racing history this car has....Yeah, there's a good chance it'll reach $2.5M without much of a problem.

This should be interesting.

At this past breakfast I gave my estimate at 2.6MM

twobjshelbys 01-31-2016 09:40 AM

This car sold at RM in Jan 2016 for 2.255M.

The white sidepipes probably were responsible for the $250K lower than estimated sales price.

Nedsel 01-31-2016 10:17 PM

Really? That's odd, given that the car wore white pipes back in '68 when it won the SCCA A Production national championship.

RRRuiz 02-04-2016 07:51 PM

Bet she goes fast, price should be sky high. Lucky guy

Nedsel 02-04-2016 08:40 PM

It's headed to PA.
