Yes, but if you take a look at the wiring job in about the next to last or so pic (click on them to get the hi-res shots), it looks like RodKnock did the wiring in a drunken stupor.

That would be funny, except that I don't drink and I don't do wiring.

Looks like whoever worked on the engine bay didn't do wiring for a living either. Maybe the painter? Lot's of fumes in that paint booth!!:LOL:**)

Any chance it came from Shelby looking like that?

We would have to turn to the true experts on that question. I have seen many originals up close and don't remember any of them looking like that!

Yes, but were those originals "restored?" I'm sure if you dropped that car off at McC's, along with a blank check, it would come back with the wiring looking pristine....

Well, here is a pic of Anthony Boosalis' 3.0.2.6 engine bay and I'm pretty sure not much has been touched on his car. He dirives if everywhere too!

Well what do you suppose caused that snake's nest of wires? My ERA doesn't even have that many wires under the dash, much less on the engine side.

Bernica 05-13-2016 12:52 PM

All I can think of is that along it's life of several conversion mods and repaint that someone got in over their head. Especially if the body was pulled for the paint....that can be a can of worms!

You guys do realize that this was a thread about painting a CSX roller?

Yes, and I apologize for straying. Patrick made me do it!
I should have been posting on his other thread and not here...

Back to paint....

painting a cobra is not a big deal compared to integral body cars, while painting an integral body car you have to disassemble everthing because the body is painted inside and outside, on cobra only the outer skin is painted, so you only have to disassemble the outer parts,

the mccluskey price-speculations are quite irrelevant, the quality of his paintings is in absolute no relation to the base-quality of a fiberglas csx-roller-body, i really doubt if he would do a paint job on a glass car

Metal-Morphous (Custom Plating, Metalization and Painting) and Conn Custom do amazing paint jobs on 'glass ERA cobras on a regular basis. The cost is no where near $25K and they are starting with a raw fiberglass body. I would think that a painted Shelby body would need far less prep than a raw ERA glass body. This should be a relatively inexpensive and straightforward project.
