Where is CSX 3030?

Hi everyone.

I'm really hopeful that someone knows where I can find CSX 3030 - the original semi-comp car. Kind of a personal, family quest for me.

Here's what I know: 3030 was bought in early 1966 in southern california, then it was transported up to the bay area where it was sold to a chamber of commerce official who rolled it down a hill.

What's strange is, the car was picked over after being rolled. Family and family-friend memory recalls that even though it rolled over it wasn't too far out of shape to repair. The guy who founded ABC Mustang said it absolutely could've been put back on the road.

Does anyone know if it was totaled, then salvaged? Does anyone know if it was sent to the breakers?

Thanks,

calidroptops

Memories can be faulty, CSX3030 was picked up at Shelby American by it's first owner, who lived in Nebraska, it was sold in to California, then resold again, before it's 3rd owner (a leasing company) sold it to the Frank K. who had the accident. Car was torn down, mangled bodywork and rear frame tubing removed, then sold a few more times, then restored. Current owner is known to SAAC, and is regularly driven with more than 20,000 miles on it last time it was at a SAAC convention in 1992.

I have this picture of 3030...

...this was around 4 years ago (I think). Registry says the original color was "green". An original SC, but street legal, I believe.

To paraphrase the old saying, a Cobra myth can travel a hundred times around the world, before the truth gets out of bed! Cheers, Dennis

The car in that Pic that Glen posted above would look a LOT cooler if it was solid Ivy green, with a black rollbar (of the correct diameter tubing) and with black sidepipes...

Jus' sayin'

Unfortunately I don't have a pic of 3030 in its original "green" (Ivy Green); closest I could find is CSX3281, a 427 roadster in Ivy Green....

The colour really suits :)
