40th anniversary cobra

No offense guys, but why did you put that ugly looking hood scoop on the 40th anniversary model? Is it made of carbon fiber? If I put down that much cash for an aluminum bodied car, the least I could expect would be to have a decent hood scoop. I thought this whole "carbon fiber craze" was an import thing.
Does anyone else agree with me?

Turk 12-10-2002 09:58 PM

gene giambona,
You are NOT alone about how you feel about the carbon fiber hood sccop. I think there is at least 4 of us total that feel that way.

TURK?
Was the original supposed to have a black fiberglass hood scoop

Original S/C's had a fiberglas scoop, but it was always painted the car color. Back in the old days, no one left their car bare aluminum.

As I understand it, they were riveted in place; the number of rivets is unimportant.

40th Anniversary Model

Hey Gene--

The Carbon fiber hood scoop came STANDARD on the 40th Aniversary model.

As far as how it looks--I've had NO complaints--quite the contrary-on how it looks great on the 40th Anniversary Blue.

Is it original--yes. Carrol Shelby designed it--Shelby American put it together this year...and his dealers finished the job.

Soooo--is it a 65--NO.....but I think its better.....and so does Shelby.

Its all about money. Had to make the cars different than the rest so you call them 40th. aniversary and charge extra money. There are very few things today that CS won't do for money.

40th Anniversay

Yo Jeff--

Who Isn't in the Biz to make money--If the Kirham Bros--FFR Guys et el had the marketing power of Carrol Shelby--they'd be all over it!!
It's the reason that Carrol Shelby made a great cars back in the sixties that we're all here now.

Do you like him--WHO CARES--the rest of us like what he did enough to spend lots of time/$$ to become apart of this community and spend time with other people that appreciate the awsome power that this car represents....its the people NOW that count.:D

Jeff Frigo 12-10-2002 11:34 PM

Just like the guitar's he is endorsing, what a joke. Don't have to like the man to like the car.

When you pick up your car next week stop by the house.
I mounted the aluminum hood scoop instead of the glass one. Personaly I think it looks better and it doesn't have to be painted!
I posted a pic in my gallery.

ST,
It is ok for you to alter your replica anyway you want to. My problem is I have a real one like Evan and we have to keep things the way they came from the factory. Otherwise they wouldn;t be REAL.

Can I still stop by the house any way?

TURK

ST 12-11-2002 01:23 PM

Sure, you can stop by anytime.
As far as your "real" one, I seem to recall something about it being partialy built at the prison.
Mine however was COMPLETELY built by a SAI employee.:MECOOL:
Who's got the "real" one now?
Do you still want to stop by?

...Ernie, that bit of diversion was directed at Turk.:D

Evan's is more REAL than your, since his was completely finished by a dealer and driven home.
I understand that you are hot-rodding yours with some rogue engine from the midwest.
