I didn't think we were that far off topic, actually.

The question as I see it is:

Does the "body" or the "frame" get the title? Or, is it the whole package? What then happens to an original Cobra that has been extensively repaired, or where the body has been replaced with a "new" one?

What if you bought a CAV glass car and later up-graded to an alloy body on the same frame?

My "guess" is that the "frame" carries the weight on this issue.

Yeah,,,,,maybe these thing shouldn't be discussed in an open forum after all.

The topic is How are CAV Cars Registered....and it is posted in the SAI forum.... thus a question for the manufacturer, I would presume, since there are no CAV cars that have been thru the process yet.

...and, Ernie, vehicles get titled, not bodies or frames or pieces.

I can only compare what I know of Special Construction Motorcycles in Penna. 10 Years ago when Harleys supply was not meeting the demand, Kit forms started to appear. Looks like a Custom Harley, Rides better than one as well! MSO comes with Engine as well as Frame and Transmission. You assemble your Motorcycle. Must pass State inspection. 4 pictures signed By the Certified Mech with his Inspection lic. # as well as a Form filled out explaining the Build and copies of all receipts. Than this gets sent to the State capitol. in 1-8 weeks depending on your courier (If you do not take it there yourself) later, you receive a new State issued VIN and Blue and silver Metal VIN plate to affif to the neck of your motorcycle. YOu also get a Title that under Manufacturer will bear their name. It would also say ex: 2003 Special Construction Motorcycle. The latest kick is they want you to insure it before they will give you a title! But it can and is being done.
