IMHO...jest a wee bit overpriced....for a roller no less.

You can't sell these cars complete, I see the same cars on eBay.

Its a pretty car. If it were available at a 'reasonable price' with the ability to put that nice new 440 HP Cammer crate moder in it, it would be a nice little car for tooling around town.

Think ya got title/registration problems now? Eventually the Feds are going to get wise to these so called "kit" cars,( fully assembled cars, minus motor/trans), these cars aren't subject to crash, emmision, etc, standards. What's stopping Ferrari, or Porche or FoMoCo for that matter, from building cars offshore, less motor/trans,, supply some US," authorized installers", with new engine ,trans assemblys, re assemble the cars. What are you gonna title them as? Ever try to import a fully assembled car from outside the US? Try it ,you'll like it.

Anyone thinking of putting down the money on one of these cars should read the book "Snake Bit" by Eric Davison. This car seems to all sizzle and no steak.

Poking a little fun at 'ol Shel, Tom?

joea 08-25-2004 09:33 AM

3.3? I didn't think they were that fast. I read an article that compared the 427 Cobra, 289 Cobra, and the Series1. The 427 was fastest (maybe not top speed). I think the article said the series 1 was about 4.0 or 4.5 sec 0-60

jrussell 08-25-2004 09:36 AM

What an "interesting" article!

Tom,
Thanks for the link! Geez, what a trip to see this thing again. I particularly like the "This is an honest 3.3 car" quote. I seem to remember the test (Road & Track or Car & Driver) where about 400 feet was the maximum distance they got one to run, but I could be wrong- but not by much. I truly feel sorry for anyone that buys one of these, but who knows, in 30-40 years these "might" bring big $$$ at auction, but by then I won't care one way or the other!

Id rather have a fully loaded Kirkham than pay 100K for a Series 1.

HIQ 08-25-2004 10:04 AM

What is the point? You can purchase Series 1 cars with less than 2,000 miles on them all day.

valpodoc 08-25-2004 11:06 AM

but if you get a new roller Ole Shel' will sign the dash...

Pat,

No, not at all. If you will look at my past posts, you will see that I have posted links to many of their press releases. For example I was the first to post on the new Ford Shelby GR-1.

PatBuckley 08-25-2004 12:52 PM

Tom,

A few examples of responses to his thread - and it's early:

"HIQ - What is the point? You can purchase Series 1 cars with less than 2,000 miles on them all day.

valpodoc - but if you get a new roller Ole Shel' will sign the dash...
Roland

Most threads with Shelby in them seem to end up with a lot of these kinds of comments.

I guess if I was a competitor of Shelby's I would do the same thing.

Just an observation!

Pat

I wish Ford would stop teasing us with all of those concept cars and build a specialty plant just for low production vehicles.
