Where is Shelby?
I have noticed that the manufacturer's forum for Shelby has not seen much traffic. I am wondering if that is because they have the owners forum now on the Shelby Automobile's site or what? :(
|
That is probably the reason, the only way to get into there is to have a Car built by Shelby American. There is another forum, but that is pretty much a ghost town as well.

I figured as much. Just kinda want to keep track of whats going on in the world of Shelby, because I am a fan and the former Controller. There is very little out there about what is really going on at Shelby. I have seen all the Ford stuff, but it would be nice to know some details.

Deacon,
If you go to 'Shelbyautos.com' and read the 'news letter' they cover many new things. I can tell you what I know from reading the Shelby owners form; They are finally starting to get some production from their HST partners in San Diego. They are delivering some of the fiberglass CSX4000 cars, and have about 30 in production at this time. Mine is one of them. The reports from those that have see their cars are 'glowing'! I expect to see mine by Jan 05. They also have completed the first new 'AC Shelby' Cobra that will be auctioned at Barret Jackson in Jan. CSX1001 Aluminum body by AC! What a car! Take a look at the 'Shelby Expedition' by Ford at the 'Shelby skunk-works' factory in Las Vegas, there are pictures on the Shelby website. It will have the 500hp engine from the GT40! I am glad that you are still 'interested' in things at SAI, I hope this gives you some of the news that you were looking for.:) jdog:cool: P.S. Ol Shel' just bought a ranch and moved back to Texas! |
I am a big fan of Shelby and company, but I was recently at the Las Vegas plant and took a tour as I did 18 months ago. I have to tell you that the place looks like a ghost town without the tumble-weeds. They had maybe 6 cobras in various states of build and nothiing of any significance on the showroom. I did get to see the AC aluminum body mentioned above....looks good. I happened by Finishline Motorsports just a few warehouses away from Shelby American. I was greeted by Roy and he took me through his operation where he builds race-bred Shelbys. He has much more going on in his shop than Shelby does.... just not sure what to make of what I saw.....I hope they are doing OK? I heard that the Expedition at SEMA will not run and the windows will be tinted out because the interior is not done......just a rumor though.

The Shelby owners forum is pretty much a ghost town as I visit it every day. Unless you post something that really stirs the pot you rarely get any responses. I would say on average maybe 2 or 3 posts a week. I have CSX4758 which was one of the SA cars but was built in Las Vegas that I have had a couple of issues with but they are working with me. When my car is done I will post a complete report on the experience. The HST cars look pretty good from what I can see and with a few production changes that I feel like I had a hand in getting changed I think they will be a big hit. Gary Patterson will be down next week for the Shelby Texas Nationals and I'm taking him to the house to show him a couple of things. When HST gets up to full production they should come pretty quick.

Hey Guys..
Thanks for the information. I still live in Las Vegas, but I have not seen or heard much about Shelby locally for awhile. I did know that they moved from the Shelby Automobile place in the Commerce Park back to the Shelby American Buildings. I am not sure if I should be using the Shelby American name or not in things like this, considering it has been mostly abandoned for over a year. I have seen things about what Shelby is doing with Ford, and that is real cool, but I never hear anything about the people working there, people I used to work with just a short time back. Then one of you guys said it seemed like a ghost town over there with hardly anyone around, and that does not give the warm fuzzies, at least to me. I am not looking to stir anyone's pot, just wanting to see whats going on. The Deacon |
....deac, ya gotta let go.
|
I will decline that invitation...nicely.
thanks |
