Video: Freshly restored COB6008 reunited with historic drivers

Check out this nice little video featuring COB6008, freshly restored, being reunited with several historic race drivers who piloted it back in the day: Jack Sears, Bruce Ropner and Keith Schellenberg.

Apparently our very own Trevor Legate also published an 80-page book entitled, COB6008 - History of a Racing Cobra, to commemorate the car's restoration. But this very limited edition is already sold out.

I'm natrually a very big fan of this car. Thanks for posting Sundude. It was so nice to see Gentleman Jack getting on the loud pedal. Fantastic sound coming from those open pipes!

A bit of a shakedown?? Jack Sears is a youthful 83 years of age and I can assure you he had the pedal to the metal along the pit straight! He really enjoyed that - he was forty years younger when he climbed out :)

I love the sound of a 12:1 Compression Small block pounding the ground. Great noise.

It's a shame 131 YHN was recently rolled by it's new owner in Germany!!

Trevor Legate 10-31-2013 08:15 AM

But currently being repaired (by a competent person!)

Beautiful car, excellent photos and video and a nice reunion of men and machine!

Question … quick jacks in the back, but none in the front and no quick jack / bumperette holes in the front either. Is this an unusual setup or were other Cobras set up like this as well? Makes for a very clean looking front end, I like it.

Only forty? I would have guessed seventy-one. :3DSMILE:

One day, when I get around to building my own car, there will be a lot of inspiration from COB6008 in it. It is a quite unique car, and has a clear and easily traced history right back to when Bruce Ropner ordered it as the first factory FIA-bodied car after Shelby's FIA-bodied cars.

Here's another shot of Jack Sears in COB6008...
