Historian seeing if there is market for photo file

Maybe there is someone who came along after the Shelby original era
who is building a comprehensive library to go along with their original GT40, Cobra or Shelby. I am a documentarian sitting on a pile of Cobra, Shelby and GT40 pics. I think I could put 100 of them together for someone building a library of original photos, of Cobras/Shelbys, GT40s. I never counted them but the file is about 4" high. In the old days I used to visit Ford and go through their files and pick pictures out, no problem, even visited Shelby American in 1965 on behalf of Motor Trend. Send me a private message if you are serious memorabilia collector.

And check in with Ned Scudder at SAAC as well (Nedesl here). Also maybe Bob Gingold.

Not sure if you're looking for a buyer or?

It would be great to digitize the photos to a disk and give them to SAAC for historical preservation.

Then you could pass the originals on to a collector.

Just a thought.

Cheers

The question is are they YOUR original photos or taken by others? What time frame are you referencing?

The Shelby American Collection (in Boulder, CO) might be a good place, but they don't buy stuff. Donations accepted. They have a lot of stuff so there may be duplicates.

Oh yeah, and I'm looking for copies of historical pics, documents, brochures etc relative to Goodyear tires in the 1962 to 1970 period as I research the Shelby Goodyear Racing Distributorship for an article I'm doing for SAAC.

Any help would be appreciated. Just copies. Don't want to pillage anyone's collection.

Cheers
Greg

It is a hodge podge over 40 years, many factory fotos from Ford

In the time I lived in Detroit prior to 1969 I would drive to Dearborn and visit a PR man from Ford who would announce "I am going to lunch, and you can have whatever you find here." So I would go for the Ford photo files and look for GT40 stuff. I also met the head photographer who was trying to save the LeMans shots, a stack 7 feet tall but his bosses wanted to throw them away. So long story short, I am willing to sell the whole pile to a historian, but don't want to endure a selection picture by picture, in essence cherry picking. You either bid on a briefcase full of pictures (I will lay them out in a rough pile and take an eerial picture) or you don't. I think you can get them from Ford but believe it or not a Ford PR man told me they had a water leak and many pictures, negatives, and their means of recording what picture is what number have been lost. So good luck on that. Minimum bid? I am thinking $3000 cash which considering the value of real GT40s is pocket change. Interested parties can reach me at photojournalistpro@gmail.com. No brokers, just collectors please!

OK, so I have to ask: are these photos that you have published in your books, or different ones?
