Who does Ford credit with designing '69 Shelby?
Automakers don't like to credit individual designers much--they do and they get hired away. But back when Chuck McHose did the '67 Shelby he got credit so I'd like to know if they did it for the designer of the '69 Shelbys too? Any articles or interviews of him existant? I saw the 2021 Shelby Mustang also has a designer named (Chris Stevens) so this matter of giving credit comes and goes. Maybe Mr. Stevens can be invited to the SAAC Convention to tell his inspirations?

Great sleuthing--here's a newspaper story on him

It is funny how Shelby would visit him and ask for drawings. One article on him show his drawings for '67 or '68 (upload failed) https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...-shelby-gt500/ so he must have worked with McHose. Haven't found his drawing of the '69s if he was involved with that. Haven't found if he did the Mach I show car yet. Hope I can find drawings of various approaches to the '69 for a story. |
I was led to believe Larry Shinoda was responsible for the '69 Shelby Mustang. However, he may only have designed the '69 Mustang Fastback, not the Shelby variant.

I feel like I am kind of being led around in a circle to back where I stared (but thanks for the suggestions) . Road &Track which has published that John Chun designed the '67 later retracted, after doing the math they decided he arrived too late at Ford to be involved.
(see https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...7-shelby-gt500) McHose told me in person he and another designer did it but I don't remember the other designer's name. So i am back to searching for the name of the '69 Shelby designer. But Shinoda was probably too busy with the '69 Boss 302 and 429 which if they were successful, would make Shelby's appeal to Ford less valuable. |

So, Chun not involved in 1967 Shelby Mustangs, but nothing to suggest he wasn't involved for later cars. |
