I think there was at least one 427 coupe, maybe more? What ever happened to it/them?? What competition history did it have, wins, dnf's etc?

There was one big block coupe started in the 60's (can't recall the CSX# - don't have my registry at work) but not completed till much later (80's?) by a private party, not SA. I seem to remember that Pete Brock assisted in the 80's build, since less than half of the car was completed back in the 60's.
I saw the car at Road America a few years ago, and it's definitely alive and well. Personally, though, as much as I lust for one of the six gorgeous small block cars, I think the big block coupe is butt ugly. Just my opinion! |
That's pretty much the way the story goes at the link I posted...

The Type 65 Super Coupe is owned, I believe, by Ken Quintez (sp) of Arizona . He also owns a GT-40, I think, that has some history. The Super Coupe has never been sorted out. Like the Cheetah, it was the last gasp of the high powered front engined GT car.
It runs middle of the pact at Road America. A great piece of history, though. Almost forgotten and discarded. Stauffer, I think, did the completion work on the car. |
