Charles "Helter Skelter" Manson and the Cobra

Trivia question. What connection does Charles Manson have with the Shelby Cobra? It is a stretch, but there is a connection.

...wow

I know...I know!

But, you're right... it's a bit of a stretch, indeed.

I'll be quiet for a while..... maybe, go for a haircut.

Oh Charlie wasn't a back up singer with the "The Rip Cords" was he? I know that when the song"Hey little cobra" came out; Brian Wilson was one of the singer on that record.Along with Jan, from Jan and Dean..Was Charlie living with the Dennis Wilson at that time?

Rick:cool:

Since Charles thought he was Jesus with a direct connection to God. Many people think that Carrol Shelby is a God. Perhaps Charles spoke to the CS God at some point. :3DSMILE:

Cal & Ron,

Where in the world do you guy's find this stuff. I have looked everywhere I can think of. Maybe a search on Manson. That is about all I haven't tried. Very interesting to see what the connection is. Maybe he stole one of there was one on that old movie set they were living in.

Ron

Cal Metal 05-01-2003 10:25 AM

Ron (Computerworks) is correct--it is a bit of a stretch but the anwer is interesting.

Re: the haircut, Ron, don't ask Roman Polanski for directions to the barber.

Enough suspense.

CSX 2220 was invoice to SAI on 11/83; subsequently invoiced on 1/22/64 to Executive Leasing Co. (LA). The car was picked up at SAI and registered with the California Plates, LIW 535.

It was leased and/or eventually purchased by a one, Jay Sebring, "Hairdresser to the Stars". Sebring had the dubious distinction of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, partying at the rented house of Sharon Tate (the house was actually owned by Doris Day's son) when Charles Manson and his troupe of killers came-a-calling.

Sebring, who had attended the CS School of High Performance Driving, was one those people murdered by Manson that fateful night in '69. When you read the history of the episode it often refers to Tate and four of her guests. Sebring was one of those guests.

I am not sure this is the kind of provenance one would be looking for in acquiring an original CSX with a "unique" history. Might make for an interesting story board, though. Maybe Charlie could sign the dash.

I was just gonna say that????

When you said "a stretch" you weren't kidding...

computerworks 05-01-2003 12:33 PM

Jay Sebring (who took his "stage" name from the Florida track) was, earlier, Sharon Tate's boyfriend... and later, just her hairdresser and a 'good friend'.

Like Cal said, bad timing on the house visit.

A stretch... more like an elastic miracle.

Interesting none the less.

 :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Cal Metal 05-01-2003 03:50 PM

Elastic miracle???? Nah.....more like Spandex.

Excaliber 05-01-2003 04:23 PM

I don't think it's a stretch. The guy who got murdered in one of the more famous cases of all time, owned one of the more famous cars of all time, a Cobra.

Now my question is:
Did he drive the car over there THAT night? Did it have Mansons fingerprints on it? I would see that as a direct connection!

manson wasn't at the house.
he sent some of his 'desciples' to do the dirty work.
