Trivia Question. Cary Grant and Shelby Cobra
O.K. this is an easy one. What is the connection to the great Cary Grant and Carroll Shelbys cobras.?
|
I thought someone would have got the answer by now.
|
Cary Grant was married for a time to heiress Barbara Hutton, who was the mother, I believe, of Lance Reventlow.
Lance Reventlow, of Scarab fame, transferred his Venice, CA operations to Carroll Shelby in 1962 to establish Shelby American. They constructed cars at that facility until mid 1965. Do I get a prize? Bud:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |
In addition, Reventlow did own a CSX 2000 car. It was one of the most expensive cars purchased by an indivdual. CS must have seen him coming.

Yes you,re right Budman, sorry no prizes. I don,t want to go on about Cary Grant but he is one of my favourite film stars.
CALMETAL, anymore info on the Reventlow cobra? |
Reventlow Cobra: Went out the door at around $7,500. I think the CSX is in the later 2100s. Competition car. Saw it for sale a year or two ago. A dealer had it. Car was poorly detailed; pretty rough shape. They wanted around $250K for it. I'd rather have the Scarab roadster. Lance never did anything significant with the Cobra--unlike the legendary Scarab. The provenance of his owning the Cobra probably doesn't contribute much "value added" to ownership.
