Richard Raskin and the Shelby Cobra
Seville was too easy. Try this one on for size--no pun intended. Ron (Computerworks) has to abstain since there is a family connection. Who is Richard Raskin?
|
(..just checked to see who answered... and found no posts!)
I know why... Cal's typo.. it was Richard Raskind... with a "d" ...but not for long. :D :D :D |
Cal..
...do you mean......RENEE RICHARDS!!!!!!!!!?????????????
Hey, do a search, I posted this one two years ago and even made a comment about Turk finding two small, shrivled prunes under the seat of his car! And how about the connect of "ROCKY" to Shelby....and I do not mean when the studio gave Slyvester a Cobra for doing "Cobra". Rick:) :o :D   :3DSMILE: :JEKYLHYDE  |
My apologies for the typo. Made it harder to find on Google, I guess.
Ron, was the name change to Richards in honor and respect for you or was there another reason?? |
Well,,,,that explians the Dr. Richard Raskin in Denmark whom I was pretty sure did not have a connection to the Cobra clan.
Threw a little curve ball in there just to make it interesting huh??? You rascal. Ha! Ernie |
You might say he "parked his Cobra in the garage".:D
|
Brett....
.. I think it is a prety safe bet that he will NEVER park his "Cobra" in the "garage" again. The "trouser snake has left the building..."

Here you are; you can sleep tonite! Old Renee thread Cal... you posed that question back in April 2001 |
From the Registry:
CSX 3154- Invoice #1811, dated 10/26/65 billed to Gotham Ford, NY, NY. Green/Black, 427, $6,145.00. Instead of shipping to Gotham, Richards requested the car be retained at SAI. Richards picked up the car at SAI and drove it to Portland, Oregon. Richards, a medical student, was doing post grad work at Oregon. Heading back south, Richards hit a rock on the Pacific Coast highway and put a hole in the pan. The engine was rebuilt at a local garage in Newport, Oregon with Richards doing some of the work. Following that, Richards drove the car to the University of Iowa where he/she was doing a medical residency at the U. of I. In '67 Richards flew a plane back to NY and hired a college student to drive the Cobra cross country. An electrical fire, likely caused by a newly installed tape deck, broke out in western Pa. and 3154 had to be left in McKeesport for repairs. It was subsequently sold. Richards underwent a well publicized sex change operation and wrote a biography titled, "Second Serve", which included accounts of her Cobra ownership. The book featured a pic of her taking delivery of 3154 at SAI. As we all know Richard went on to become a fairly (semi) famous tennis star. |
This is known as "Cobra Closet History"
Its still interesting !! |
So its true then! . . . this car IS an extension of ones "member" . . . or in Richard's case, replacement for one's missing member!
