csx 2399

Hi there everybody..
I am new here but I need some assistance from you out there.
I will be looking at CSX 2399 next week, and am looking to buy it. However... I am now told there are 3 chassis with the same number around... Does anyone have any info on this matter...

Nik H.
Norway..

If the car you are looking at is black, with chrome wire wheels and a chrome roll bar, then it might be the real 2399. If it is blue and has FIA features, it is a clone. If you are serious, let me know what the AC Cars footbox ID tag lists as the engine #, and I will let you know if it is the real car.

biz5300;

As a follow up to Ned's post, do not disclose the engine number on this forum, contact Ned directly with the information.

Isn't this what SAAC specializes in? Don't they have the info on the originals and the fakes? Trying to pass off a fake as original is fraud.

ZOERA-SC7XX; You are correct on all counts. Just in case you didn't know, NEDSEL (Ned Scudder) is the Cobra Registrar. If anyone is interested in purchasing an original Cobra, contact Ned with the infomation on the car you are reviewing for its known history.

Nedsel 11-18-2007 05:00 AM

The car being described does not sound at all like the real CSX 2399. I will contact biz 5300 privately to discuss the issue. In the meantime, CC members should know that yes, SAAC and its registrars will continue to deflate spurious claims of authenticity on Cobras and Shelby Mustangs.

thankusbetogod ;)

Badger 11-18-2007 02:35 PM

We should all give thanks to Ned Scudder and all the ethical SAAC registrars who have worked so hard for some 40 years to make the Cobra the icon that it is. Remember it is SAAC alone that made the Cobra what it is today! Badger

Nedsel 11-19-2007 07:10 AM

Badger, I very much appreciate your comments (and so do the other registrars). You may find a couple of people out on the west coast, the ones who are stirring up a very nasty pot of stew right now, that disagree with your last statement, but it looks as if they have set their minds on a particular course and we will simply have to deal with that.

Bump. I have some questions about the csx2399.

1. Has the real csx2399 been found?
2. If it has been found, how can you tell if its the origanal?
3. When started fake cars hit the market?

I am new to this forum, i hope someone can answer these questions.

Best Regards

Adam

The answer to your questions can be found in the "WORLD REGISTRY oF COBRAS & GT40s"

I'll let the experts on this thread answer your questions.

Nedsel 12-02-2017 07:10 PM

Adam, we know a lot of details about the genuine car as well as the clone(s). I have already sent you a private message, and with luck the information within it might assist you. But please feel free to ask more questions as things go forward.

I like this bit in the Registry regarding 2399 ..."a missed shift circa '80 caused the car's clutch and flywheel to explode, the latter acting like a Sawzall and slicing both frame rails. The car sagged in the middle...".
A good scattershield is a prudent addition (only on a replica of course)!

Cheers,
Glen
