Shelbys family tree

In over 40 years of rading about Shelby, never heard mention of where
his parents were from. first generation, 3nd gen, 3rd gen, etc.
I once typed the word SHELBY into the search engine and got a county in Ireland so I am going to take a wild guess and say an ancestor came from Ireland. Most of the Irish came in the time of the potato famine but that's as much as I want to guess. The modern Shelby family tree is of course well documented-- two sons and a daughter born during WWII, several grandchildren (ncluding Randall who edits the Shelby Forums) and now there are great grandchildren. But I am curious, being a 1st gen on my father's side,(and been back to the old country to see the farmhouse he was born in) just how far back the Shelby family goes in America. Never saw it discussed anywhere anytime even in the 6,000 word VANITY FAIR profile, the most researched story I ever saw on Shelby's life and times. (It was in an '07 issue, your library has it; very entertaining)
