Ads for Shelbys /Cobras in regional race programs
I suddenly remembered that back in the 60s when I was a ad copywriter for Campbell Ewald, I used to be called upon to write special ads for the Corvette or hot Camaros for small
one off racing programs, say for the Mid America races in Wisconsin. These ads were usually more aggressive in tone than the ads in regular magazines because you were preaching to the converted. I wonder if Shelby American ever supplied special ads for racing programs, ads that were never to appear in Sports Car Graphic and such? If Chevy's ad agency was doing it, why not Ford's ad agency, (or Shelby's own when Pete Brock was writing the ads?) |
