Well, we're on our way. Just another 4,985 to sell - maybe Jamo will buy two, one for his infamous office and one for his coffee table. Maybe we'll make a collection to buy him a coffee table...
Naturally I was planning to copy everything straight out of the Registry and take all the credit - saves so much time :-) Don't tell Mr. Ned...... |

And I guess the same can be said of someone building a car. Build it the way you like it, especially when one has no idea why the originals even existed. Make sense? ;) |
I'll reserve comment, but no I don't necessarily agree.. I think you miss the point, for whatever odd & strange reason. You're assuming that people don't care about their histories and stories, or you don't want them to. Since people often do things, like buy a car, without reading every fricking $200 book & every forum out there, doesn't mean the outcome is what they intended when all is said and done. Apparently you have an issue with replicas otherwise you wouldn't make such snooty remarks as "especially when one has no idea why the originals even existed."
Make sense? |
Count me in for two. One for me and one for my kids' school library. (Maybe if we all buy one for our kids' schools' libraries, it will inspire the kids and spark their passion. (Resulting in a better sellers' market down the road when we need to sell the cars in order to pay for college...)

Same thing applies though :D as I've never know either one to be unkind to replica owners, but both have been critical of over the top "real" owners ;) Bill S. |

Trev...let me write the "Forward" and I'll buy a dozen. Really...it'll sell. How tough can it be to make it more readible than the Registry?;) |
If all these other schmucks are in for one I'll commit to at least one. Also since I live fairly close to Lynn P. you are welcome to drop by for a food and drink if you don't ***** too much about my dogs or fakeydoo Cobra.

"It appears, to me anyway, that many people jump into building and/or buying these cars without necessarily much interest to their history or stories in the beginning." If people are going to "jump" into buying a car that has been built/assembled by someone other than a (what should I call them) major manufacturer of finished vehicles their first concern should be the quality of the build, not whether the car has wheels or rivots that match an original car. (Perhaps I shouldn’t have left the word ‘first’ out.) Again, if one is building a car and has no interest in the history of the original cars, build it the way you like keeping the quality/safety issue in mind. This would be the same approach as building a resto rod using a repro body/chassis. |
Trevor, im going to have to get a bigger book cabinet :)

Well thanks Hoppy, that's one offer of food & drink, so we're on our way. I'm OK with dogs as I have a greyhound crashed out beside me as it type this stuff....and I should be walking him.
So that's the mighty Jamo (the Bathroom King) sorted for the Forward. I like the idea of being passed around the USA. I think. Actually I sound like a w*ore. But you rarely see the words 'US' and 'culture' in the same sentence do you..??? Ooops, that's me finished on this forum - bye everyone!! (just kidding of course - but if you set 'em up like that Jamo, we could be another Burns & Allen) |

Trevor,
Perhaps a "cooffee table book"? You know, like Kramer made with fold-out legs?:3DSMILE: |
Trevor,
Put me down for at least one (maybe two, if you can keep the price under 4 digits). Just to show that I'm serious, can I still get an autographed copy of your last book? Let me know how to get ahold of you, and where to send the money. Yes, I am SERIOUS. :) PS, You can stay in my guest room if you pass through the area while doing research. My wife makes awsome cornflakes. |

I'll bump my order up to ten if it'll help get this going. :D
|
I might hold you to that....
Let's say that this idea will be getting my full consideration and if it looks a practical proposition, then we'll get the show on the road - and I'll be begging for help no doubt! It's vitually impossible to get these kind of books into production without a co-publisher to help offset the awful up-front costs. Leave it with me. |
