Build starts on the first Shell Valley Classic Wheels Cobra roller kit

Well got the roller kit home finally, and the build starts!
Many thanks to Dana and Travis at SVCW for their help, and for taking the time to meet me there on a weekend to pick up my kit! Really great guys to deal with!
Also thanks to the members here who have assisted me with all my questions leading up to this point, and especially to the member who let me drive his car a few weeks back, I still have the grin on my face!
New photos in my gallery, and many more to come!

Thanks Bob!

Yes, busy keeping the RR alive, but making progress on the motor, a 351W stroked to 427. Should have that done in a few weeks, in time to match up the trans and get that all installed.

Seat mounts done, Fuel tank installed, started working on the wiring, pedal box mounted (but needs adjusted since I have short legs apparently), Dash coming together, brake lines done (just need ends at master cyls done).

Been pretty cold out here lately, and with an un-insulated garage it cuts down on some of the things I would like to start on like bodywork.

But all in all I think it is coming together really well. I need to get some updated photos loaded up soon.

Thanks for the interest! I will try to get in here more often and update..... I actually thought nobody cared ;-) (Except for you of course Bob!)

I remember what the car looked like B4 color (midstates)
Attachment 16046
and then reality set in..........do you hear the sucking sound?

hotrodman76 01-01-2010 04:42 PM

Glen,

Oh yes, and even though I hide it in the garage, somehow my wife can hear that sound from the house!

Somebody once told me Summit can be very addicting habit ;-)

But it has been a long time coming, and I build as I can afford it.

Follow your dream Mike............Follow your dream

rustyBob 01-01-2010 08:07 PM

Did i say that...............
Glen if Mike does half the things he says
he's going to do on this build......this will
be one mean mother fu--er of a Cobra.
a true contender at Run@ Gun for sure.

hotrodman76 01-08-2010 11:18 AM

Thanks for the kind words Bob! I do hope this is as competitive as possible, but we will see when it first turns the tires under it's own power!

I now have more of a complete shop setup, as my engine stand and engine hoist showed up finally. The TKO600 will arrive next Wednesday, and I should pick up the engine from the machine shop the day or two after that!

Then it will be time to pull the body off and put the power in!

Wish it would warm up a bit, tad on the cool side out in the garage when it is -15 outside!

rustyBob 01-08-2010 11:54 AM

I know it was -7 when i got up at 6pm this morning...........
my poor rat rod is burried under a ton of snow and all you can
see of it is from the windows up..........
sounds like there is progress.....
you have plenty of time to get it running for Run-N-Gun....

hotrodman76 01-27-2010 01:32 PM

The engine and trans are now installed in the frame!

351W stroked to 427, solid roller motor with all the goodies on it.
Tremec TKO600 with Forte short throw shifter.

A few new photos posted!

Getting the coolant system done, fuel system, and things like that.

Starting to look like it may run by the end of the year at this rate!

Yeh, figured I would get some guff for that...

I have a personal policy of not appearing in person on the internet. Personal reasons, I don't do facebook or myspace for same reasons.

But putting Cobra stuff on here, well that's a good reason to lurk I suppose!

Thought this was about the car, not about the builder!

rustyBob 01-29-2010 07:06 PM

I have met Mike.........
he's a nice guy........
he's just bashful.........

and yes it's about the builder to......
