getting started on 1st car
i'm supposed to be recieving my car in less than a week.........i'm writing this b/c i plan to have a electric winch to lift my shell up and down when i want it removed or on the car.....so my question is: where is the best place to life the???from the fender??? has anyone attempted this before?????if so how did you do it???

I made a framework out of 2" channel iron. Mounted it on wheel so I could roll it around. The car lifted very well from the fenders. Once in the rack I supported both ends with rachet straps. i didn't thing the fenders would be strong enough to hold the weight......but that's a good idea!

I helped put a Shell Valley car together. If you like the solid rear axle and rectangular frame I think they are one of the better companys out there.I went to the Run and Gun and met Rich Anderson you will never meet a nicer guy

There's a couple of pics in my gallery of how I do mine. Dana at Shell Valley mentioned that the fenders are a good place to lift the body from.

If you look at the 5th page in my gallery you will see the lift I built to handle the body. It worked fine with ratchet straps. You need 2 straps on each fender well and alternate between them as you raise or lower the body. I had the body on and off 8-10 times during the build. Joe |
