Will a 14" x 3" air filter fit under the hood?

I going to be putting into my Shell Valley a new Ford Crate 302 with a 600 cfm Holley Double Pumper on a Weiland Sealth Manifold.

I bought a 14" by 3" X-Streme K&N Air Filter. Now, I am concerned if all of this is going to fit under my hood. I have a regular size hood scope and I do not like the tall ones.

When, I placed the carb and air filter 9/16" raised based they were hitting the spark plug wires onto of the MSD dist. So, I know that I am going to have to raise the carb 1/4" or maybe 1/2"

Thanks in advance for any help,

Killer

I had the same problem with my 14" X 3" setup, even with a recessed base, and don't want to change to the elongated oval cleaner that most Cobra's use to fit within the hood scoop profile. I will use a K&N flow top when on the track, and use a chrome 14" cover when on the street. I went to my local auto parts house and scoured the air filter shelves until I found one that measured 14" X 2 1/2". Purolator A60102.
