Welding Chrome-moly yokes to mild steel tube.
With having various bits on my car welded with Mild steel to chrome-moly tube, it was time to get my driveshaft sorted, I have Strange "chrome-moly" 1350 weld ends, the driveshaft shop have said that 3" Mild steel 0.83 tube is sufficient and has less chance of cracking than Chome-moly tube, so he has made a beautiful job of electric welding up the driveshaft etc.
My understanding was that mixing materials is ok but not preferrable, we only have a bit over 600hp in a light weight car so it should be ok or should I have done some more research any ideas..............! |
