external clutch slave recommendations??
I've got a cobbled up external slave on my car now that came from a local parts house. It's listed for a 65 FE powered F100. I had to do some custom band-saw work to enable it to fit. The angle of the dangle isn't perfect but it's worked well for the last 4 years. It's recently started to leak a bit so I'm intending on replacing it. I really don't want to install a "like" POS as a replacement. I'm looking for something more "professional grade". Any recommndations??
I've a Pond based S/O with a Lakewood blow-proof bellhousing with a TKO-600. Brent, got sumpin' ???? |
I have a couple options....
Are you using the T/L bracket on the driver's side with a clip in fork, or a ball stud on the passenger side? |
Fortes sells one and so do Kirkhams. I have bought both and ended up using the Kirkham unit because it was a bit better. They are both about the same price the Kirkham unit may be a bit more but it is worth it in the end.

Forte's setup is for a cable-clutch style setup, where the slave is mounted on the front of the bellhousing and pulls the fork towards the front of the car. It even uses the existing clutch cable hole on the bellhousing.
The Kirkhams' setup will work with the traditional actuation method, where the fork is pivoted on the driver's side. I spoke with David K. about this a few weeks ago and I'm authorized to sell them. Their stuff is very well made, billet, CNC, normal Kirkham boys stuff. ;) |
so you sold me the cheap one brent ? :)
|
I sold you the one that works with your clutch setup. ;) Cheap, no. Less expensive, yes. I will note that Mike makes excellent stuff too.

Brent, I'm running and OEM style "push" style slave. I's bolted to the bell housing flange using an OEM stamped steel clutch fork with an adjustable "ball end" push rod. The clutch is a long style too. I'd like to keep the same configuration as it works fine.
Can you send me a picture (and PM or post a price) of the Kirkham setup. Dave |
Dave, sent you a PM. I'll get some info for you ASAP.
