Cobra pissing on the floor????
Every time I run the Cobra and it gets up to temp the overflow starts pissing on the floor. Not sure if it is coming from the radiator or the remote fill neck as the hoses are tied together. I have a 16lb cap on the fill and a 23lb cap on the radiator. Am I just filling it too much or perhaps an air pocket??:confused::confused:

I use a 7lb cap fix my problem,I was running a 13lb...

A coolent recovery bottle helps stop the puddles on the floor.......

My 10 lbs of crap is already overflowing the 5 lb bag that its in, I don't think there is any way to FIT a recovery bottle in there............LOL.

I'm confused on the cap issue, I thought a lower pound cap would leak first?? Am I wrong in this thought??

How much are you filling the overflow tank? What level does it drop to after it pukes? If I fill mine too much, it does the same thing until it reaches its equilibrium point, which is only .5"-1.5" in the bottom of the overflow tank. More than that an it pukes. But as long as you have anything still in the overflow tank when it's cold, I think you are fine.
So let it puke and see where you are when it cools down.

Your cooling system will seek a level that it will operate at when you are doing normal driveing.....one or both of those caps should have a little valve on the bottom of it (if its a recovery style cap)that will let coolent out when pressure builds and then let it back in when the coolent cools off( expansion and contraction)if you dont have an overflow bottle then your coolent(when it expands)will pizz all over your floor....if you have an overflow bottle the the coolent that is in the bottle will draw back into the rad. when it cools(contraction).........ok......and it dosent make any sence to have 2 caps to begin with.

Well, if it doesn't make sense to have 2 caps then what do you propose, leaving one of them openings uncapped?? Sounds like I need a non-recovery cap at both locations....it is set up "old school" with no overflow tank or bottle....radiators worked for many years without puke/overflow bottles, so, I'm sure it will work nowadays......

Yep--for many years radiator caps were the highest part of the cooling system---
then came along horizonal flow radiators that weren't the highest part of the system
also came along the coolant recovery systems--where a tank caught the excess as the coolant warmed up and expanded, sucked back into rad when cooled and coolant contracted--kept air out of the system

most of the "old school" cooling systems where to big for the engines anyway(over cooled).....you could have the filler neck removed from the rad.,its not that hard to do and if you have an inline filler then you dont need the other cap anyway....i never heard of an "old school" system with 2 caps and i worked in a radiator shop for 10 years and never saw one either. its better to have a recovery system anyway because ALL raceing sanctioning bodys REQUIRE ONE.....and you wont be poluting....

In the old days, the expansion area was the brass tank across the top of the radiator. Now all the cars have the tanks on the sides so there is no room for air entrapment as an expansion tank.
