Superformance brake upgrade??

Just finished my Superformance, and would like to upgrade braking performance. Given I would like to stay with the stock 15" Trigo's, does anyone know of/have experience with high performance pads? Will I get meaningful results by upgrading the discs while keeping the Wilwood calipers, or do I really need to do the whole system?

I come from a modern day sportscar background, and have found my stock Superformance brakes fade a lot sooner than I'd like. I sure would hate to crackup that beautiful nose!

Needless to say, I'm looking for band-for-buck results. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would recommend that you check Performance Friction at:

They might have pads to fit your vehicle. I do not know what Superformance uses for rotors and calipers, so you will have to track that down

Grant, Wilwood will let you talk to their tech people just ask the number is 805 388 1188. Tell them which calipers rotors pads master cyl. size booster ect.you now have and see what they say. maybe you just need different pads. They have been very helpful to me.

Use Performance Friction 80 compound pads for the best all round performance.
You may need to upgrade to Castrol SRF brake fluid as well.
Call us at (704)647-9924 if you need any of the above.
We have used the PFC pads in the last 3 One laps with excellent results.

Gentlemen--

I decided to try something completely different.... EBC Red Stuff pads. I've heard good things about their "Green Stuff" pads, the "Red Stuff" is a little more competition oriented, but recommended by the manufacturer. These things are kevlar compound. I'll let you know how they work once I get them. Anyone have any experience with them?

I had my car at Waterford racetrack last Friday (with the Detroit-area Miata club (!), and was very pleasantly surprised with how controlable the car was. I have most of my track experience with a '94 Mazda Rx-7 twin turbo, and was not expecting the Superformance to be so forgiving (especially with BF Goodrich Euro TA's). I figured the car would be all over the place.

Happy to report I had the fastest lap time of the day, despite Ford having a prototype V6 Miata there (as seen in Road & Track). Given the how tight Waterford is, and that we had finished the car only a week before, I was quite surprised by the results. I can only imagine what my Cobra would be capable of in more experienced hands.
