Filtermag's
Anybody using or try a Filtermag?
Do they work or just another waste of money?%/ Craig |
I use magentic oil plugs on my remote filter, oil pan and any where else they can go (cheap insurance if they catch something).
I would imagine if you think that it would work, you purchase a Neodymium magnet and just have it on your oil filter. Super strong magnet, cheap and would certainly pull anything that is magnetically receptive. I cannot see why it would hurt and its cheap insurance. |
Been using a filtermag and magnetic drain plug for years. I also consider it cheap insurance for an expensive motor. Never have taken a filter apart for a visual inspection since the particles captured by the magnets are pretty well masked by oil deposits and other "stuff".

Super strong magnets very cheap
Just order some of these cheap / super strong neodynium magnets and stick them on your pan and filter. That is what I did. These are no regular weak iron magnets!! These are super strong and can smash the hell out of your finger if you have two together on your finger!!!!
http://www.magnet4us.com/?gclid=CJKN...FZpN5QoduVOTLA Have fun !!! :3DSMILE: UPDATE: DO NOT put them anwhere near your cell phone or computer!!! Do not look directly at, or taunt these magnets!!! :-) Scroll down th the "Caution" section of this link: http://www.magnet4us.com/Website/Web...d2306f9c5fa613 . |
I use both a filter mag and magnetic drain plug. They always catch some gooey bunch of oil and metal powder. I figure if the oil filter was perfect there would be nothing on the magnets....but there is.

That was my thinking also, the magnetic drain plug always has a small graphite- like grease blob on it every time I do a oil change, so I thought a bigger magnet--can't hurt. Craig |
