safe oil pressure for 393 stroker

what is considered safe oil pressure running a car hard for street use. With 20-50 my pressure is 45-50 I was told it should be 50-60.With 10-40 and a fram filter it was 40-45.Both of these are hot pressure readings.I changed to 20-50 and am using a knN filter nowand 45-50 hot.more like46-47.

At what rpm? Rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1,000 rpm.

My 351-W idles cold at 60 psi, 180 to 200 degrees idles at 30-35 psi with 15/40 Shell Rotella oil. This is also at 700 rpm idle. Pressure goes to 50-55 psi at 1200 rpms hot and stays at about 55-60 psi above 2000 rpms. A number of engine builders said this is in the ball park and not to mess with it..... Also, stock oil pump.... I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 miles on the engine with NO problems so far.

I would not worry about your engine with oil pressure at 40 or above whether it is hot or cold.

Just my .02 cents.....

David
