Piston wrist pin clips?

I am building a 351 stroker motor and the new pistons I have came with clips to retain the wrist pins. The old pistons did not have these, and I don't see the need for them in the new pistons, are they only needed for a full floating wrist pin set up?It seems that once I heat the rods and insert the pins and pistons the clips are not needed any thoughts or experiance?

Thanks Mike

Clips

Mike:

Put the clips in. And while you are at it, besure that the sharp shouldered side is facing out.

MDR....are they Keith Black Pistons...if your stroker rods aren't floated do not use the retainers....DO NOT USE THEM!!!!
Their pistons are made for press on or floated....why they send the retainers without telling customers not to use them for press on application...well who knows.....
Why didn't you get rods for your project that were bushed or at least machined for floated pins?

Thanks George, the more I thought about it the more I think they should not be used in my application. If I used them the pistons and rods would have no play what so ever which is not a good thing. The pistons are speed pro's that I ordered for a 302 to be used with a 3.85 stroker crank.

Thanks again, Mike
