351w crankshafts
Hey, guys, need a little help on this one. A friend has an '86 351w he built using a stroker crank from scat. He has oil pressure problems, and thinks the block is the problem. I don't agree, but he is hot to trot for a new block. He has a line on a roughly '74 vintage block. That block has a 2 piece rear main, as opposed to the 1 piece rear main he now has. Will that crank fit in the 2 piece block, or, can it be machined to fit? I'm not sure, thought some of you might know. Thanks!

Just bringing this one back to the top. Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris,
I think it will work, but I would ask Scat If I were you.:) Steve |
Thanks, Steve, I will do that.

Chris,
Sent you a e-mail through this sight. Hope you got it. Scat makes the cranks to use both kind of seals. |
When line honing the mains, your machinist can easily cut the back of the block for a one piece rear seal.

Thanks, Mr. Fixit. I will tell him. Even though this thread is 3 years old, he still hasn't pulled down the motor!

chris,
I install a scat crank last weekend in 351w (393 stroker). The crank hit the oil pump so that could be your friends oil problem. The crank may have cracked the oil pump. Dealing with scat about it now. Ill let you know what they say. |
