Have you changed the coil .

Edelbrock carbs on light vehicles...hmmm. Hard to tune transitions for consistent afr, but this sounds more ignition related. Wish we could hear it. Got a sound file?

I changed the plugs (Autolite AP 26) still got the miss. The only things left to change are the ignition module (Duraspark) or the coil. I must admit to having a cheapo coil from local auto parts store but seemed to work fine before this started. Wife has been understanding so far with the purchase of parts but even I am weary of purchasing more stuff without having a good idea of what's wrong. Today I will trace the fuel system from beginning to end and then check the timing again. I will try to attach a photo of the plugs I removed to show burn pattern and get opinions.

had a car years ago that got a misterious miss in the engine. Had just put plugs in it. Turns out I had cracked the porcelin on one of the plugs gapping it. Like to never found out what was causing it.

I hope the sound attachment goes through. Does anyone know if I can attach a MPEG4.

EUREKA! I found a small bend in intake house of fuel pump. I think it was restricting flow.
Went out and flogged the car, ran great except have a stumble on gear shifts. Hate to bother you guys but is this probably due to timing or carburator? Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I sure learned all I wanted to know about misses.

Maybe you have too much fuel now!

Edelbrock Carbs are known for a slight hesitation on throttle tip in. It's a momentary lean condition. Try opening up your two idle air screws about a half turn and see if that helps.

Jim Dandy 05-01-2011 05:51 PM

Thanks I'll try that.
