mgb front end -change or not?
Looking at Unique Cobra /mgb f.e. How easy is it to change to 5.0 mustang f.e.?How much would it cost for parts? Labor? Would it be worth doing? Any help would be appreciated.

Gumball1;
I think it would be harder and more expensive than it would be worth. Does the Unique you are looking at have a Camro rotor with an Apen caliper? That is the setup my car has, and it does a good job in the handeling & brakeing. Unique has a custom coilover front end that will retro fit into their older cars with very little changing. It has a custom crossmember with tubuler a A-arms,Mustang 2 spindels, Willwood brakes & Carrea coilover shocks. It uses the same stearing rack as the MGB front end. Poorboy |
NICE TO MEET YA, DAN
Dan,
Wanted to catch up with you, since I saw you on this thread. It was nice meeting you at Unique yesterday. Alan said that he might try to put a bug in your ear about maybe having you deliver my car to Gainesville, or all the way to my place when it is ready. IF it doesn't look like Alan or Maurice can bust loose on the Oct. 13 weekend, will you poke your nose around the shop over the next few days,and see what's up? You would know better than I if this is something that will work. However, it's really their call, and it may not even be appropriate for me to be asking you about it. Thanks again for offering to send me pictures of my car, and talking Cobra stories with me on my visit to Unique. Say how about a knowledgeable retired guy like you keeping an eye on the progress on my car. Maybe a little gentle prodding from you will keep the guys focused on completing my car, not to mention an experienced eye on quality controll. Don't tell the guys I asked you, I'll deny and lie like a gutless rat:JEKYLHYDE Anyway, how about giving me an occasional heads up on my progress. I'll buy you a steak if you wind up bringing me my groceries:3DSMILE: FIAFRED Fred Savill PS Gummball1, Sorry to cut in your original thread, just wanted to ring up Poorboy |
Hi Fred;
It was nice meeting you to. Alan has already talked to me about delivering your car if they can't. I have delivered a number of Cobras. I delivered Jerry Cowing's Cobra & Cal Metal's GT40 just to name a couple. My sisters oldest son has a home in Brandon, he is in the Coast Guard stationed in Venice, La. now. I would be happy to check on your cars progress from time to time as it's not all that far from my place :D :D Oh and by the way it's DON not Dan, had the same trouble when I was a kid everyone called me Danny instead of Donnie. If you want me to take any pictures of your car let me know, I have a digtial camera. Poorboy (Don) |
Donnie (DON),
Sorry ole' buddy... musta been that southern drawl, I mistook Dan for Don**) Oh hell, I probably just can't hear anymore, too much Rock n Roll at 110db. Thanks a bunch for the offer all around!! Let's jot a note back and forth as time goes on and plot my car's progress. Do you want me to give your directions on how to get to Unique?!:LOL: I'm turning in for the night.. Frank, oops I mean, Fred |
Hey Don, while you're in a delivering mood how about delivering my parts order down here to St. Lucia? If you bring it in as personal belongings it will save me a bundle on duty and taxes. I am also willing to buy you a steak. Hell, Ill even throw in a baked potato and salad! :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Don,
It looks like we've started a chain of deliveries! Let's see, how do you get from Brandon to St Lucia:LOL: At least it looks like you'll be fed well for your efforts! By the way, did you get my personal e-mail about taking some pictures for me? Give me a heads up if you didn't receive it and I'll go through this thread (sorry Gumball) to repost it. Thanks, Fred |
Fred;
No I didn't get your e-mail about taking pictures for you. Just let me know what you want. I think others are haveing trouble with e-mails when going though ClubCobra. My e-mail is poorboy@microxl.com Don |
Don - I got a chance to shake your hand when I made my trip to WeaverWorld (aka Unique) last month. As long as you are out delivering cars - can you go ahead and drop mine in Texas. I think mine is about ready according to Alan. Heck, if you can't drop it off - just shoot a picture of my car so I can loose more sleep counting the days.
Buzz - I saw your crate bound for St. Lucia when I was there. I also tried to take a picture of Creeper's car - but a 55 gallon drum of resin and a stack of fiberglass cloth was not much to look at.:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |
