ford motorsports crate engines
I had only read good things about this engines when I ordered a 392 stroker motor. I have seen several threads showing problems. Are these only isolated instances of problems? Is there pitfalls to look out for in running these engines?
I have not finished installing yet and have not run the motor. Thanx for help in advance. : |
ford motorcraft crate engines
Dana,
One of the guys here in Tulsa is running one of the Ford 392 stroker engines and has for over a year and a half with no problems. I have seen him run it hard a time or two but to my knowledge he is very pleased with his engine. I think he bought it from PAW in California. |
watch your oil pressure in this engine, were did you buy it!Break it in slow and you should have very little problems use the 6AL rev limiter MSD box and the dual plane rpm edelbrock manifold.:)

fms crate 392
My engine installer got it through a local speed shop. I could have gotten it cheaper elsewere but i had to let him make some money on it so he won't feel so bad fixing it if there is a problem. I bought the msd 6AL, a Davinci 750 double pumper, and he said the intake was a victor jr stamped as a fms. What should I rev limit it at for street driving?

You'll Love It
Dana,
I had the 392 stroker installed in my SPF last spring and it has been fantastic. In 2,500 miles I have had zero problems. Performance and sound are awesome. Try the Speed Demon carb. My installer liked it better than the holley. Good Luck Sierra Madre |
Dana I set mine right at 6000 rpms because mine engine was run for 3 days on dyno for break in and checked for any leaks so I ran it hard from day one.I would recommend setting it at 4000 rpms for first 400-500 miles change oil and set it at 6000 because thats were your power stops anyway so why go higher. If you stick with the single plane manifold maybe go up to 6400 rpms.
