Billet coil over shocks
Hi All,
I've ben looking at using a set of billet aluminium coil overs on my kit. There is a guy down here who is just starting to manufacture a fully billet shock and they look real well made. The damping isn't externally adjustable but he's setting up a shock dyno and will be valving them for each application. He's making them with hot rods in mind and the price is quite reasonable. I can think of several advantages of using these billet aloy coil overs over a steel coil over shock: Shock oil stays cooler because of the superior heat sink of the aluminium. Lighter weight. Rebuildable. Looks cool. What are the disadvantages? Are they as durable as a steel shock? Do they require any special maintenence? How do they perfom generally? Cheers |
