holley fuel rail question
My old fuel rail (for a 650 double-pumper) had a slow leak, so I decided to replace it with AN fittings. Dry, everything seemed to connect well. I tightened things securely, but not "gorilla" tight, and once I got fuel in the lines, it started leaking at the two inlet points on the carb.
The gaskets between the inlet "pipe" (looks like a pipe, anyway) and the carb are new - is there some sort of seal I need to put on the threads, or did I just not tighten it enough? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...carb-inlet.jpg Thanks, JLW |
It could be that the carb flange surface has an imperfection of some sort. A small amount of gasoline resistant thread sealant on the washer might eliminate it.

It appears that you're using the aluminum gaskets, even when new they may leak. Try to get some nylon ones, you may find them at an auto parts store that sells Holley carb parts, they won't leak and are almost infinitely reusable.

there is a lip where the arrow is pointing so you have to make sure everything is fit correctly, from experience. the aluminum washers are dead soft so if everything is flat they should work, might have to work the fitting a little (tighten/loosen a few times).

try some Hylomar on the gasket surface and the threads also. It will work. don't use too much as it will plug up the jets if it reaches them. It's sold in the USA by Permatex under lic.
