Side pipe rattle - from within

I seem to have developed a rattle in the baffle region of my side pipe. I am resigned to having to replace it, figuring some piece within has come loose.

Anyone else had to do this? Any complications or lessons learned?

Thanks

sidepipe repair

You shouldn't need to replace the whole sidepipe. Only the baffle section is defective.
I've replaced the baffle section only on several pairs of sidepipes, for customers who wanted different sounding pipes.
Just cut that section out of the pipe and weld a new middle onto the pipe. Cut right at the welds that are either end of the baffle section (it's where the sidepipe balloons out) and replace with the baffle of your choice.
Find a good exhaust man in your area, shouldn't be a big deal.
I usually drop mine off at "Header's by Doug" in anaheim,CA(Doug Thorley) he welds new baffles in them, then has them ceramic coated. Better than new, and they are guaranteed to fit, (they already have.)
