Problem w/holding down conv. top
I have a HI TECH Cobra.
The covertible top - attaches to my windshild by slipping its metal channel over the top of the windshield frame. The top is then clamped on either side at the windshild uprights. My question: When I clamp down both sides, the metal channel "pops up" near the middle of the windshield and there is nothing to hold it down. Question: How does a Cobra conv. top attach in the front to the windshild? It is as if they should have made a third clamp for the middle of the windshield besides the two on the ends. I believe on most windshield frames there is a "slot" ,maybe about 1/4 inche wide that goes all accross the top part. The two metal bows attached at the front of your canvas top should have close to their center extremities two king of ferrules that once slipped into that slot at the top of your windshield maintain secured the center part of your soft top. Th ferrules can be slipped in by the mean of the slot being wider for few inches or so, at the center of the windshield. Then when you clamp down on each side clamps it pulls the ferrules into the narrower section and then its secured. Could it be its only the ferrules on your bows that are missing? Is the top of your frame slotted? It looks like you have a different combo otherwise it would be quiete evident to you that's the way to attach your top. Hope that helped. Regards. |
It sounds like your front bow is lacking a nail-head-like part that slips into the slot. See this page which contains this picture:
