coil over shock question
I am in the process of ordering coil over shocks for the rear of my cobra. It is a B&B with a 351W and T-5.
What would be the approximate weight ratio (front:rear)? Weight on each wheel? Also, for the shocks, what might the compressed and extended lengths be? I was hoping someone could give me a rough idea from their experience with this. Or maybe the specific coil overs they purchased. Thanks in advance! Jeff |
Hmmm..if i recall the weight ratio of an original is 53% rear, 47% front, so assuming a 2400 lb car, your total rear weight would be 1272 lbs, or 636 lbs per wheel. You would have to gauge shock throw--just measure suspension travel and add about an inch both ways. The coil over will take care of the rest. The front in this scenario would be 1128 lbs total, or 564 lbs each wheel. I am assuming a big block, yes????? To be more precise, you can take your car to a truck scale @ a truck stop and they can give you an exact reading of front and rear axle--it cost me about 10 bucks here in Texas.
