AVO Coil overs
Hi All,
Any one have any experience with these coil overs? what are they like, performance, looks, durability? Can they be mounted upside down ie shock body at the top? Cheers |

we use them since a while and had no problems so far. They cannot be mounted upside down if it is the oil version. A gas version could, if there is any. Professionals correct me, if I am wrong. Dominik |

I got a set on my Contemporary and I think they work just fine. It is my understanding that AVO is the originator of coil over shocks. If I am wrong sombody tell me so. RD%/ |
Thanks guys. I'm having a look at the double adjustable Alden coil overs as well. They certainly look nice but I'll have to do my research.

AVO shocks
AVO shocks are good, but not great. They are oil filled, so no upside-down mounting. They are however, adjustable for dampening, and ride height. Any spring rate and length can be had for them, and they don't cost too much. However, they are oil filled, so as they heat up, they get squishy. The first couple of laps they'll be firm, but they get softer as the oil heats up. If this is of concern, look into Bilsteins. They cost only a little more, but perform a lot better.

I put a set (4 on jag IRS) of Alden's on a few months ago and they are working great for me. fully adjustable gas/ride height and the price was pretty good. I've got the Aldans in the rear and front as well. They've worked well on the irs, but appear to have gone soft in less than three months up front. They're adjusted full stiff, and the front end is floating like crazy--they're the competition ones. Going to send them back to be tested, but something's definitely gone wrong. The old Konis were stiffer. I'll let you know how it works out.

Well, speaking of AVO shocks... I've got a set of 4 for sale. They are off my old SPF (pre-accident), and have about 3500 miles on them.
