Correct position for Front cooling fans

Hello Everyone

Can someone tell me if there is a correct position (period correct) for the front twin cooling fans. Were they fastened on the top of the frame hanging down or standing up from the bottom. Just want to get the look right.

thank you
Carleton

Just to make things complicated (or simple  ), I've seen 'em both ways. That is not to say all the ex-factory cars weren't the same - only that sometimes they got re-installed after restoration incorrectly.

Thanks Bob
I guess I'll have them installed whichever way is easiest, if there is no actual correct way.
