Pressure bleedin brakes - need advice
I still have rubber hoses for some sections of my brake line. I just bought a Power Bleeder and don't want to over-pressurize the rubber lines.
Can anyone recommend a max pressure not to exceed? Thanks |
If you're talking about feed lines to the master cylinders that look like fuel line, they'll take about 20 psi. The lines from master to caliper are rated for far greater than you can get out of an air line. :D

BP's line is correct--but be careful power bleeding at all, as you can damage some of the residual valves in the system if they are present. Why not liquid bleed the system and be safer? Just need a clear, clean bottle, some vacuum line and some brake fluid. Hang the bottle somewhere about 1/4 full of brake fluid, attach the vacuum line over the bleeder screw and into the bottle UNDER the level of the fluid. Pump the brakes 3-4 times, close the bleeder screw and remove the vacuum line. Than follow the normal bleeding sequence. One man brake bleeding, almost fool proof!

Many of the speed shops sell little bleeding tubes which have one-way check ball valves in the end, designed specifically for brake bleeding. Place the open end of the tube onto the bleeder valve, the other end in the empty jar, get in the car and pump moderately rapidly. The bleeder valve prevents fluid return into the caliper. Just be sure to keep the reservoir topped off; it only takes one infusion of air into the line to begin the four-wheel bleeding process all over again. I've used one of these for years and it really speeds up the bleeding process.
