Advise-need tools- Cordless Butane Torch and Soldering Iron.
My torch and soldering gun are like 25 years old, so I need to update with a Cordless Butane Torch and Soldering Iron. My usage is mostly working on the Cobra and household. Want new, not used.
Looked at this set on ebay. What do you think of it or please advise of any other company's. I also want a nice case for storage. Eastwood 9-in-1 Cordless Butane Torch and Soldering Iron | eBay |
I use a similar unit, Weller Portsol. Am very happy with it. Got it 10 years ago for about $10 more. Used it for house construction. I am now retired and have wired 3 race cars. Always, Always have a refill can with it. Looks like a good deal to me.

Hi Tom, I have looked at Weller's, and I've had their large pistol type iron for many,....years. It's worked great, but I'm wanting something newer and smaller. A friend that is a mechanic recommended a separate iron and torch, rather than a combo unit. Says it's actually more convenient and works better. That way you don't have to change the adapters from using the iron to the torch for like etc. But,.... I don't use them everyday like he does, so I don't know between the combo or separate unit. I hate buying something and return it because something else,.....would have been better ! lol
What do you think ? I do like the Eastwood that has a viewable level, retractable roll-proof stand and battery-free piezoelectric ignition, built-in, 360° regulator allows use at any angle. This is their separate torch- http://www.eastwood.com/3-in-1-preci...ini-torch.html http://i509.photobucket.com/albums/s...twoodtorch.jpg Here's some others I'm looking into. I've read that people are very happy with the Blazer below. Kevin ... you might want to go to the Garage Journal site and ask that question or use the search function . There are some really serious ( anal ? ) "toolheads" over there .
