high pitched whining noise from the back of the car

It started a couple of days ago and was followed up with a "spike" in the ampmeter reading. I replaced the Alternator but the whining noise is still there - seems to come from the back of the car?

Any idea's on what I should look at first? Can the fuel pump cause this noise?

Stopped or in Motion?

Yes, the fuel pump can be the cause; if you hear it while the engine is running and the car is standing still.

If only when your in motion, rear-ends can whine as well. but that's not an electrical issue.

Had that noise for a while. It was my x wife whining about my new toy.

Sounds like you may have one of my kids stowed away back there.....I've got so many of them, I can bearly keep track of where they are...

I doubt that there is a correlation between the ampmeter spike and the rear noise. You could eliminate that it’s electrical if you take it out of gear at speed and then turn off the motor with the key so that nothing electrical is running. If the noise is still there then it’s not electrical.
My car has always made a slight shrill noise coming from the rear (different than another noise I recently got). Even after I replaced the rear fluid and got rid of the other noise and vibration I was getting. See http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=11653
Please keep me updated and I'll do the same for you.
