427 Marine engine
Just found 2 427SO's that were on a boat from the mid 80's.
They are side oilers but have been modified diferently I guess becuase the were marine engines. Does anyone have any experience or advice on their worth. One of them is in great condition. |
It was probably cast as a SO, but was machined as a center oiler. They had to do that in a lot of marine applications because of how the block was mounted in the boat. I have one with 8 sleeves in it. Worth depends on each block. If it was a twin screw application, generally speaking not as desirable.

One of these engines is probably a counter rotator and will have the wrong crank and cam, unless you like backing up real fast, If the guy will let you have the blocks sonic tested it may be a good deal yet. But in the long run you may be better going to a new engine it could be cheeper. Bill E
