Source for replacement Lucas Amber Marker Lenses??

Does anyone know a source for the replacement lenses for the Lucas L-539 front marker lights? My Unique came with clear lenses and I would like to replace them with the original style – amber color lens. The replacement that I’m looking for has the 4 winged tabs on the lens. I know I can buy the entire assembly form Finish Line ($ 43.00 on page 11 of their catalog) but I only need the lenses and don’t wish to have to pay $86 for 2 lenses.

Possibly...

Cobra Restorers, although I'm not sure. You might also check with Bob Shaw of Operations Plus. I believe both of these outfits have links at CobraCountry.com

Good luck,

TT

Call ERA, I replaced mine through them. Good luck, Pete C

europaspares.com or cobraspares.com. They're in UK, carry virtually everything for OEM Cobras and other Brit cars (Jag, MG, Healy, etc.). Buying from UK is about like any other mail order house.

Okiesnake,

Have you checked with Unique yet? They might have some that you could swap out.

Okiesnake:

Funny thing, I have amber lenses that I would like to swap for some clear ones.

Interested?

Yes!
What kind of condition are yours in? Could you please post a pic of yours. Mine are like new (5 months).
If your trim rings are in good shape, it would be easier to swap out the trim ring with the lens.

I'll do it later today....

Suggestion

Lucas uses little brass inserts to hold the lens screws into the metal housing. When wet, they exhibit dissimilar metals corrosion resulting in a rusty housing and corroded inserts. A light coating of wheel bearing grease prevents this.

Okiesnake:

A fellow Cobra owner and friend saw my answer to you and called to say he had some clear lenses he would let me have.

Thanks anyway.

Hey Okie.........I have some amber lenses from when I changed mine over to clear last year. e-mail me if interested. I met you at the last TCC meeting. I'm the big ugly guy with the salt & pepper beard. I'm sure I can fix you up

Gary :D

Okiesnake 11-26-2001 04:00 PM

Gary,
I remember you big ugly guy! Thank you for your offer. However, Unique said they would swap them out for me.
Why did you change from amber to clear? The reason that I wanted amber was because I thought the 427 originally had amber while the 289 had clear. Am I wrong on this?

i have two amber lenses i will trade for two red ones!
