Manifold Hunt

I was out gawking at cars last night brfore all this inclement weather rolled in--and I saw a Ford Torino Cobra (?!?) at the Clover with a three duece set up on a 429SCJ---any hints as to where I could find another? I never found the owner of the Torino to ask him, but it looked like a pro cast manifold, not a one-off. it had little or no markings that I could see in the dark, but was absolutely a 3 2v set up. Nada from Weiand, Edelbrock, FPP or Roush. I am interested because my motor runs too well and I want to see if I can screw it up by changing the top half. **) :JEKYLHYDE **)

Toivo--thanks! I emailed brattland and am awaiting a response--looks promising! I think a 6v set up would be a good thing--I might even break the 10MPG barrier!

Toivo--I got an email back from the manifold source--the one shown is on a 429SCJ in a JEEP that the guy goes 4 wheeling with! It is one of FIVE that were specially cast by Buddy Bar for FoMoCo back in the day...THe search continues!

There's a couple on e-bay. Search under FE.

427sharpe 12-09-2001 07:44 PM

The 429 is not related to the FE 427-428. no parts interchange. Thanks anyway.

Did you try Cobra restores. It My not be in the catalog but they have an old guy in Oregon that may make you one.

427Sharpe, I like your view of making changes. Anytime I add something I must deal with some big downturn either directly or indirectly associated with the change.

I keep looking at those nice dual 4bbl manifolds that Edelbrock sells for the small block Ford. It would look way cool, but I spent hours dialing in the jetting and accelerator pump cams on my double pumper and the car runs terrific. I know if I go to the two 4s, I will have weeks of problems and aggevation and untold unanticipated expenses.

Anyone tried the new Edelbrock?

I noticed that Edelbrock now makes a single plane Airgap Victor style manifold for the FE. I know that they produce big power on the 351 crate engine. Is it a cheap 20 hp for my 427? I'm presently running a Ford medium riser with an 850 cfm 4 barrel. The engine now puts out about 510 hp at 5900.

Maybe

427Sharpe- wonder why these guys confuse the 385 and FE's?
Anyway, Ford Power Parts made a manafold a few years back for 385's that had a removable top 2x4 plate and a 3x2 option too. I think they quit selling those manifolds and started selling Blue Thunder stuff but a call or a E-mail may get you to a lead on a old peice.

Ford power parts is at E - mail address www.fpp@gte.net . Their old phone number (that may need updating) is 1-512-921-5300
Fax (old?) number is 1- 562- 404-0900
A guy named Ron Miller used to own it I think. He may give you the lead that you are looking for.

dual fours.....

cobra ed, remember the road racing 2-4's were dropped just for this reason and back to the single four, the 15-25 hp extra wasn't worth it, then ahhh they got the cfm for a single they needed, so the 2-4's went by the way. the long runner plenum 2-4's made a show in the quarter mile, but they are again being replaced by fuel injection, just use the ole lap top to tune it in a way your ear 'n screwdriver never could.
