Wiring issue - No brake lights when turn signal is on
I'm having a little trouble finishing the wiring on my car. Everything works fine until the brakes and turn signals (either direction) are on at the same time. Any thoughts? I have a ppp universal kit.

We need more information.
What kind of signal switch?
What brake light setup?

Usually taken care of by the turn signal switch. Power from the brake light switch runs up thru the switch and sent back out which ever way left or right, switch cancelling out the signal on that side. That is unless you have the later style brake signal system where you have separate bulbs.

The original signal switch did not split the brake and signal light "signals". It was done by a relay on the firewall. Many kits use a trailer relay or other splitter for the same function. That's why I asked about the signal switch.

Some older wiring harnesses use a converter to run the brake/turn lights.
I lost a brake and turn light at London Cobra Show last year. With a 12v test light, I was able to find that the "brake light converter box" under the dash had gone bad. It's the same part as is used on some RV's. The fix was relatively easy and inexpensive. I just went to an RV store, bought a new box and wired it in place of the old unit. Under $50, as I recall. Back to full function.

Thanks guys, I moved onto other things on the punch list. I think it is in the steering column turn signal switch. Which isn't designed to work like i have it wired.
