Smiths Temperature Gauge
My Smiths temperature gauge has gone out of calibration. When the engine is cold, it registers about 20 degree C too high, and when everthing is up to temperature, it reads about 10 degree high. It worked fine for 1 1/2 years, but changed suddenly for no known reason.
Is there a way to recalibrate these low tech gauges? :( |
Lyle,
Try http://www.nisongerautomotive.com/ They sell and service Smiths instruments. I had probhlems with both my temp gauges after about a year, but mine were reading low, indicating a leak in the tubing or bulb. I called Nisonger and decided to just buy new gauges, as they weren't a lot more than the rebuild. Good luck, |
David,
Thanks for the tip. I've e-mailed a request for info. You confirmed my suspicion that replacement would probably be about the same price as repair. I'll see what they send. Lyle |
