Fuel Preservatives
AS A RESULT OF MY RECENT IMPROMPTU CONTRIBUTION TO GLOBAL WARMING - I AM GOING TO HAVE TO STORE MY CARS FOR A "WHILE". HOPEFULLY NOT MORE THAT 6 MONTHS OR SO.
CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A FUEL PRESERVATIVE THAT I CAN USE? THANKS - AND HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY, BLACKJACK |
Blackjack,
Your gas should be fine for 6 months, but if you want to add something, I recommend Sta-bil. I'm sure most major brands are perfectly good, but I've read and heard many good remarks about Sta-bil. Check it out. Dave http://www.sta-bil.com/products.htm |
Blackjack just send them down here to Dallas....we will drive them for you and then no worries about leaving fuel in them too long :)

StaBil works!
Blackjack -
I have used StaBil for years with very good results. It's available around here at auto parts stores, boat supply stores, and even K-Mart. Highly recommended. Regards, cobrajeff |
STOR-X ????
THANKS GUYS,
I CANNOT FIND "STA-BIL" AROUND HERE. THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS MANAGER RECOMMENDED SOMETHING CALLED "STOR-X" BY K & W. THE DIRECTIONS STATE TO USE ONE OZ. FOR EACH 2.5 GALLONS OF GASOLINE. HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH STOR-X?? IS IT ABOUT THE SAME?? I'D FEEL MUCH BETTER USING A RECOMMENDATION FROM YOU GUYS THAN FROM A LOCAL STORE OPERATOR. IF YOU AREN'T SURE ABOUT THE STOR-X - I'LL KEEP LOOKING FOR THE STA-BIL. THANKS AGAIN, JEFF & DAVE. MATT, YOU TOO, FOR YOUR MOST GENEROUS OFFER. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY, BLACKJACK |
Blackjack, contact stabil from that website in an earlier post, they should be able to tell you who in your area sells it. sta-bil does work great. I have also seen it at RV supply stores as rv's many times get stored for extended periods and it is a must have for lengthy storages. I however have stored cars for up to 6 mos with no additives and never had a problem, stored with a full tank of fuel to reduce condensation forming inside the tank. however, when vehicles got liberated from hibernation i quickly ran thru the tank of gas to not let it get any more stale than it already was. had a friend who after one year discovered his full tank of fuel was virtually non combustable ! good luck. Bill.

STA-BIL
Blackjack:
I use Sta-Bil for the diesel fuel for my Kubota tractor in the winter. You can get it at Wal-Mart I think (the one in Leesburg) or at the Tractor Supply Co in Leesburg (across Rt 15 from the Outlet Mall). Hope that helps. Corey |

Jack:
Welcome back, man. Last winter I used STP fuel stabilizer (one full bottle mixed with a full tank of super-premium - 19gal.) and put her up for 5 1/2 months. Started like a charm in mid-April so I 'spose can recommend that product. You can find that stuff anywhere; I've even seen it in a 7-eleven. |
Sta-Bil and Pri-G
I have stored 93 octane for over 16 months using Sta-Bil and Pri-G.
My fuel was stored in a steam cleaned 55 gallon drums in an outdoor shed. The following have all run perfectly on the "aged" fuel: 1990 Honda Civic 1.5 liter F/I 1982 Ford F-100 300 with carb. Honda S 550 Generator Lawn Mower (12.5 HP Briggs engine) String Trimmer Both fuel protection products work, and work well! |
MANY THANKS
HEY,
THANKS VERY MUCH GUYS. THE GOOD ADVICE IS MUCH APPRECIATED. I WILL DEFINATELY GO WITH THE STA-BIL. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY, BJ |
